Through different pieces of research I have come across interesting artists such as Halima Cassell. She hand carves these amazing and intricate shapes from marble, clay and wood. Her cultural background is of prominent influence in her work, but also geometric elements are a consistent theme.
I have also looked at relating books such as 'Art Forms In Nature' By Karl Blossfelt, studying mostly black and white images that included strange and foreign shapes. A book I by chance happened to find was 'The Sculpture of Ruth Asawa: Contours In The Air' By Daniell Cornell. As I looked through, I noticed interesting and unusual shapes created with wire, wire which had in some way been crocheted/looped together with the end result being soft, bubble-like shapes that gave definite form yet were still transparent. Interweaving through the air, their shape never truly defined.

I began attempting to replicate the crochet technique with wire and found it very time-consuming but extremely effective. I hope to include it in my final outcome in my own way, I hope to create interesting shadows and illusions with light.
